Walton Press, a Georgia based printer serving the publishing industry since its founding in 1900, has purchased a KODAK NEXPRESS ZX3900 Digital Production Color Press. The addition of the new press is part of Walton’s vision to provide an expanded range of in-house services to its customers, including the printing of book and other types of publication covers.

The KODAK NEXPRESS ZX Platform delivers industry-leading productivity and high-quality output. Numerous print enhancement options, including ten specialty dry inks for the KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit, give printers a way to set themselves apart from their competitors in the market. Furthermore, the NEXPRESS ZX Platform provides unprecedented flexibility regarding substrate types, thicknesses and formats the press will work with. The standard maximum sheet length of 520 mm can be optionally extended to 1219 mm with the KODAK NEXPRESS Long Sheet Pile Feeder.

“We’re really excited about the opportunities the NEXPRESS ZX will open up for our business, especially the ability to bring more jobs in-house,” said Stuart Christian, Vice President of Operations, Walton Press. “With NEXPRESS ZX’s flexibility and its ability to handle a wide range of paper sizes and array of substrates, we’ll be able to offer our customers new creative solutions for their publication cover designs. At the same time, we’ll be able to exert greater control over our operations and productivity, which means we can deliver an even higher level of service for our customers.”

The installation of the NEXPRESS ZX Press follows Walton Press decision to convert its entire pre-press operation to Kodak technology to improve the operations overall efficiency and service for its customers. As part of the upgrade, Walton Press installed two new KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS Platesetters, switched 100% of plates to KODAK SONORA Process Free and installed the latest KODAK PRINERGY Workflow Solution.

Walton Press’ Christian added: “The reliability and performance of Kodak’s CTP machines, process free plates and workflow software has been a tremendous benefit to our company. It has not only helped increase the efficiency of our operations, but it has helped us become a more profitable printer.”
