Big screens, packaging workflows & more

May 1, 2008 12:00 PM, By AP staff

At Drupa, Heidelberg (Kennesaw, GA) will unveil a new version of its Prinect Axis Control spectrophotometric color measuring system, fully integrated into the new Prinect Press Center control station. At 7.87 in./second, it's twice as fast as its predecessor. During setup, the system automatically identifies the type of quality control strip and its position on the sheet.

As of Drupa 2008, all SM presses will feature the Prinect Press Center. Innovations include an Intellistart function and a large wallscreen, which gives operators an unprecedented overview of all press processes. The SM presses can be shown in cutout profile with all functions depicted dynamically. It supports print approval processes, displaying the sheet with ink zones depicted in their actual width.

Heidelberg will launch Suprasetter 145, 162 and 190 thermal platesetters for its new Speedmaster XL 145 and XL 162 presses. The vendor has extended its Prinect workflow to handle folding cartons and label production requirements. The flexible solution is appropriate for users specializing in a single application or those producing both packaging and commercial work. See www.heidelberg.com.
