Electrostatics from the pressroom to the bindery
Sep 4, 2007 1:23 PM
Ken Troemel, Andy Grzesik and Mark Blitshteyn of MKS Ion Industrial share a four-part online exclusive series with AP readers. They explain how to create effective electrostatic solutions for various printing and converting problems.
The articles in this series explore uses of electrostatics in printing applications from the pressroom to the bindery. These include: ribbon tacking to prevent "dog ears" and produce consistent signature cutoff length; stack tacking in the compensating stackers for stack integrity in bundling and shrink-wrapping operations; and inline finishing tacking for securing folds and inserts, and for preventing "footballs."
Part 1: Dealing with chill roll marking
Part 2: Controlling ribbons and signatures
Part 3: Producing consistent magazine stacks without slowing down
Part 4: Inline finishing enhanced through the use of electrostatics
