RR Donnelley expands FSC certification
Aug 1, 2006 5:03 PM
R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. (Chicago) has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certification for 54 additional domestic and Canadian production facilities. With these new certifications, all of RR Donnelley’s U.S. and Canada locations, as well as its Reynosa, Mexico, facility, have achieved FSC status.
Forest Stewardship Certification tracks raw material chain-of-custody to assure the paper used in printed products originates from sustainable, legal and verified logging. Certifications are granted only after a rigorous examination of raw material procurement by a third-party auditor. Customers whose products are produced in an FSC-certified facility may choose to display the FSC “checkmark and tree” logo on their printed materials to demonstrate their commitment to sound environmental practices.
“These new certifications mean that RR Donnelley can provide, from a single source, the industry’s broadest selection of printed materials capable of carrying the FSC logo,” says Dean Cherry, RR Donnelley Group president, Integrated Print Solutions. “In producing books, magazines, catalogs, retail inserts, billing statements, operating documents, labels, financial printing, digitally printed materials, and other printed items, RR Donnelley works with our customers to support sustainable forest management.”
