Weyerhaeuser will close one fine-paper machine this fall
Jun 18, 2003 12:00 PM, AP Staff
Weyerhaeuser Co. will close its 32,000-tons-per-year fine-paper machine this fall at its Rothschild, WI-plant, leaving its 130,000-tons-per-year R5 machine in production. Seventy-five positions will be eliminated as a result of the closure. Driving this decision is the fiercely competitive paper market combined with the age of the machine--installed in 1922--and its size.
