Prism joins Creo as a Networked Graphic Production Partner

Prism recently joined Adobe Systems Inc., KBA, Komori America Corp., Printcafe Software, Inc., and Xerox Corp. as the most recent partner in Networked Graphic Production Partner program, which is an initiative that delivers modular applications through vendors' products to create a job-definition-format-(JDF)based print-production environment. In other words, Networked Graphic Production enables partner companies and their customers to access a range of integrated software. For a complete list of Networked Graphic Production Partners, visit the NGP Partners List.
For example, Prism uses WIN, its management information system (MIS), to connect to the Networked Graphic Production program. By using JDF, Prism’s MIS accesses prepress production data via Creo’s Synapse Link software. This MIS integration program provides automatic and immediate access to production data, allowing printers to record and communicate such up-to-the-minute data as prepress workflow events, material usage, machine time, and content alterations. A set of standard reports that show summaries or detailed views of job-specific production data, such as chargeable and non-chargeable changes, machine time and material usage is also available with Creo’s Synapse Link application. Scheduling, inventory and job costing can be automated with the business analysis tools in the MIS system. Trends and inefficiencies can also be identified.
Creo UpFront production planning software streamlines and automates production data transfer to eliminate such manual processes as retyping data, resulting in fewer errors later in production workflow. Customer services reps (CSRs) can then access years of hard-to-find planning experiences in the form of reusable layouts, check these layouts against a comprehensive database of press- and finishing-equipment capabilities, and print accurate and consistent job layout documents. UpFront can also integrate with digital imposition applications and can send data to finishing equipment.
