GATF calls for environmental and educational awards nominees

GATF is now issuing an industry-wide call for candidates for the William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award, which was established in honor of and named after the environmental pioneer Dr. William Dwight Schaeffer. In early February, Schaeffer passed away at the age of 81, after providing environmentally-sound activities for the graphic communications industries and a rational perspective for those who develop environmental regulations for the industry. This award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions towards environmentally-sound practices in the industries.

The GATF Education Awards of Excellence, which annually honors both an academic educator and an industry trainer who have made outstanding contributions to educational efforts in the graphic communications field, is also taking nominations at this time. Educators at all academic levels and trainers in all segments of the printing industry are eligible.

A committee comprised of noted industry leaders will make each award selection, and all winners will be announced at the next PIA/GATF administrative meeting, November 13 to 16 in San Antonio, Texas. This forum is well-attended by an array of industry leaders, including boards of directors and committee members for GATF and its Society of Fellows; PIA and its Khan Society; and the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation. Nominees are not required to be GATF/PIA members, and there are no nomination fees.
