Heidelberg North America to restructure
May 30, 2003 12:00 PM, AP staff
Heidelberg North America (Kennesaw, GA), the sales and service unit for sheetfed, prepress, postpress and digital products in the U.S. and Canada, has announced a restructuring that will take place during the next 10 months. The restructuring is a result of a recently conducted business-process review.
Proposed changes include an expanded customer care and demonstration center at Heidelberg North America’s corporate headquarters, the development of a national service call center, and the restructuring of regional operations and reengineering supply-chain management, including consolidation of spare parts and equipment inventories. Approximately 225 staff positions will also be eliminated. Some of the employees filling these positions may be reassigned, while others may choose to participate in a voluntary separation program or carry out the term of their employment until the new organizational structure is enacted.
Changes will be implemented in stages and will be completed by April 2004.
