Canon unveils new development platform at Digital Solutions Forum
May 7, 2003 12:00 PM, AP staff
Canon U.S.A., Inc. (Lake Success, NY) introduced several new technologies at its annual Digital Solutions Forum in Chicago, which focused on the theme of "Real Business. Real Solutions." These include the Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP), a JAVA-based development platform for multifunction devices that reportedly enables creation of customized software applications that run inside the device. Users are said to be able to tailor their multifunction system to their specific workflow processes; MEAP also enables third parties to develop unique capabilities on Canon devices, and potentially expand the professional services and consulting offered to customers.
The Forum took place May 6-7 and featured a theatre presentation and exhibition floor with areas highlighting business-to-business products and technology, targeted vertical-market solutions, a development-partner pavilion and consumer products.
