Pace earns Green Power designation

Wisconsin Public Power Inc. (WPPI) has designated Pace Industries Inc. (Reedsburg, WI), a plastic extrusion specialist in the graphic arts industry supplying polystyrene and polyolefin sheets and rolls, as a “Green Power” company. This honor is awarded to companies that procure a threshold of their energy needs by wind, water, organic materials or other renewable sources.
Pace Industries’ manufacturing facility has secured a percentage of WPPI’s wind turbine power as an alternative energy source to the traditional coal, oil or natural gas.
“Right out of the gate, the wind power we are purchasing is the equivalent to 22 tons of coal generated power. This translates to the amount of power consumed by 52 homes, annually,” says Blake Pace, president of Pace Industries. “Pace’s green power initiatives has an impact on preserving fossil fuels for future generations and hopefully setting a course for other businesses in selecting alternative natural resources.”
Pace Industries’ recent recognition as a green power company complements a corporate culture that focuses on reducing, reusing and recycling products and services for the well-being of employees, customers, and environment.
The company continues to explore new bio-based polymers, which incorporate agricultural products such as corn or soybeans as alternatives to fossil fuel-based resins.
Customer recycling programs offer the opportunity to return packaging materials as well as plastic scrap at an inflated value. These programs eliminate the potential landfill of at least 2 to 3 million pounds of waste annually.
