ORIS Color Communication Conference debuts August 16

CGS Publishing Technologies Intl. (Minneapolis) will host its first annual ORIS Color Communication Conference on August 16 in New York City. To be held at the prestigious Yale Club, the event, co-sponsored by Eizo (Cypress, CA), will feature the latest soft proofing technology for publishing and advertising workflows.
“Soft or virtual proofing is generating a tremendous amount of interest in the publishing and ad production circles,” says CGS representative David Palmieri. “It has great potential for time savings in color-critical environments. Unfortunately, it also has created a lot of confusion. This conference will clear up many misconceptions and offer a straightforward solution to the problems many color professionals face.”
The conference is designed for high-level color professionals and decision makers. The information sessions will be followed by hands-on demonstrations of ORIS Soft Proof and the more recent ORIS Color Server, a Web-based environment for remote control of multiple color workflows. Publishers at Ipex 2006 reportedly noted Color Server’s remote proofing approach (for hard copy and soft proofing) had the potential to cut production timelines by 1-3 days for print publications.
