Online consumables ordering on the rise

Oct 26, 2006 5:11 PM

xpedx (Loveland, OH) reports it has fulfilled more than 3.5 million online customer orders in the last 12 months—an increase of more than 50 percent.

Commercial and in-plant printers are the most active users of its e-commerce platform. Other major customer groups doing business online with xpedx include manufacturers and retailers.

Many printers are transitioning a large number of high-frequency, repeat orders online to xpedx.com versus traditional phone orders. xpedx plans to continue to expand its e-commerce platform for printers.

“The portal has grown quickly because it’s convenient, cost-effective, real-time, and it helps customers monitor their spending with us across their business,” says Dave Wallace, director of eBusiness for xpedx.

Additional features of xpedx.com include customer-created lists of frequently ordered products and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
