Mohawk joins Climate Leaders in reporting emissions
Jun 19, 2008 2:48 PM
Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. (Cohoes, NY) has successfully completed EPA base year reporting requirements for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Leaders program.
Mohawk joined the Climate Leaders program in February of 2007 with a pledge to inventory the reduction of its corporate-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. To remain a member of the Climate Leaders program, Mohawk submits an annual report of its emissions inventory data to EPA and must pass a required site visit evaluation.
“As senior managers look for ways to build sustainable brands, increasingly they are turning to their supply chain. They want to know about the environmental integrity of products, but also about the companies behind those products,” says Thomas O’Connor, Jr., Chairman and CEO, Mohawk Fine Papers. “The certification from EPA substantiates our contribution to greenhouse gas reduction.”
Mohawk has earned certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), GreenSeal, and Green-e. It has been recognized by the EPA as “Green Power Partner of the Year.”
