United Litho recovers from tornado damage

PRESS RELEASE
United Litho (Ashburn, VA) had a close-call from a run-in with a tornado as Hurricane Ivan moved across northern Virginia. Although a full crew was at work in the plant, everyone quickly found shelter and no one was injured. Although the tornado itself did not make contact, the plant nevertheless suffered damage from suction and high winds.
The plant's roof received damage or was lost in several areas, including above the shipping dock and pressroom. Several employee vehicles were damaged, including two that were picked up by the wind and thrown against the building, severing the plant's incoming natural gas supply line. Conwago Construction--who built the plant in 1997--is helping to repair the plant in the aftermath.
United Litho extends great thanks to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue who helped evacuate employees, covered presses from incoming rain, provided shelter and arranged for meals.
