The Garvey Group adds three KBA presses

Aug 12, 2005 10:24 AM

The Garvey Group (Niles, IL), a multi-division, Midwest-based printing and communications company, has purchased three new sheetfed offset presses from KBA North America (Williston, VT) that will be installed at its Niles, IL; Milwaukee, WI; and Sturtevant, WI; facilities by year’s end. The new KBA presses further the company’s multi-million-dollar modernization and expansion project, which began two years ago.

Among the new presses are a KBA Rapida142 56-inch, six-color machine with tower coater that will be installed in Niles; a 40-inch, 10-color KBA Rapida 105 convertible perfector with tower coater with roll-to-sheet feeder equipped with hybrid UV capabilities and Auto Register controls that will operate in Sturtevant; and a 40-inch, six-color KBA Rapida 105 press with tower coater housed in Garvey’s Milwaukee, WI facility. Each machine is capable of printing from 13,000 to 15,000 sph.

The new presses are equipped to expand Garvey’s capabilities in the large-format category, as well as in the areas of printing on plastics and heavier board stocks.

“We see a thriving market in large format and printing on different substrates that is not being served,” says Ed Garvey, president and CEO. “We are going to capitalize in these areas by having these presses installed at our various locations.”

In March 2004, The Garvey Group added a KBA Rapida 162 64-inch six-color sheetfed press equipped with UV and hybrid ink capabilities at its Niles, IL headquarters. This press gave the company the capability to efficiently produce point-of-purchase, signage, and large-format packaging materials. In September 2004, the firm installed a KBA Rapida 105 41-inch four-color perfector press at its Racine, WI, facility. By the end of 2005, The Garvey Group will have installed five presses from KBA in two years.
