ICS donates Remote Director to colleges

Apr 13, 2005 4:57 PM

Integrated Color Solutions (ICS) (New York) has donated more than $1 million worth of its latest SWOP-certified Remote Director software to leading graphic arts education and training institutions across the United States. The donation is part of the company’s newly launched Remote Director Educational Outreach Initiative, an effort to promote higher education and the proliferation of monitor proofing technologies.

“ICS turned the concept of remote proofing into a reality with Remote Director and this is something that RIT feels is important as we design students’ curriculum based on needs relevant to the industry,” says Bob Chung, professor, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Hal Hinderliter, director of the Graphic Communication Institute, California Polytechnic State University, adds, “Cal Poly prides itself on staying at the forefront of technology. We recognize the impact that the rapid adoption of soft proofing is having on the graphic arts industry and so it is necessary for us to implement these technologies in programs that benefit both our students as well as our outreach to professionals in the industry.”

Institutions participating in the Remote Director Education Outreach Initiative include: Clemson University (Clemson, SC); Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY); Western Michigan (Kalamazoo, MI); California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo, CA); Ferris State Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI); Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (Sewickley, PA); Harry V. Quadracci Printing & Graphics Center at Waukesha County Technical College (Pewaukee, WI); Newspaper Association of America (Vienna, VA); Fullerton College (Fullerton, CA); Pasadena City College (Pasadena, CA); Riverside Community College (Riverside, CA); Central Missouri State University (Warrensburg, MO); Arizona State University (Mesa, AZ); Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, KS); Murray State University (Murray, KY); and New York City College of Technology (New York).
