Jim Hyder, president and CEO of Fetter Printing Co. (Louisville, KY) and former NAPL chairman, has received the 44th annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award on behalf of the Soderstrom Society of the NAPL (Paramus, NJ). Hyder has served on the NAPL's board of directors as well as the boards of the Graphic Arts Show Co. and the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation. Under his leadership at Fetter Printing, a direct-mail, label and tag printer, the company has become 100 percent employee-owned. Hyder also has a long record of community service, especially in youth mentorship programs.
The Soderstrom Award has been presented yearly since 1961 to individuals who make significant contributions to the development and progress of the printing industry. The recipient is chosen by fellow members of the Soderstrom Society, an organization that provides industry leaders with opportunities to exchange ideas, suggest improved practices and recognize contributions by peers.
