Nevada publisher to install Goss postpress system

Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers (Carson City, NV) will add a new Goss NP632 inserting system in early 2005 to meet increasing insert volume and complexity requirements. The affiliate of Swift Newspapers, Inc., publishes seven newspaper titles.
The new Goss NP632 inserter system will include 22 hopppers and will be equipped for single- or dual-delivery. Goss will supply an NP200 press gripper, NP404 online inserting system and Omnizone supervisory controls.
Girish Pandit, the company’s regional director of production operations, explains, “We chose Goss because of the exceptional technology, the reliability and the fact that we wanted a complete package from one vendor. We wanted to avoid the added difficulty and uncertainty of integrating products from multiple vendors.”
The Goss NP632 system will address evolving inserting requirements for the seven titles. In addition to increasing advertising supplement volumes and demands for targeted zoning, the publisher regularly inserts several common sections into multiple papers.
“We have relatively complex inserting requirements, compounded by the very short, precise production windows necessary to produce all seven titles,” says Pandit. “The productivity of the NP632 will be essential, and the Omnizone controls will help us with scheduling and planning inserts across all of our publications.”
