Gartner Dataquest has named Canon, Inc., subsidiary Canon U.S.A., Inc. (Lake Success, NY) the number one overall brand leader in the color copier market and in every speed segment of the black-and-white copier market in the United States.
Gartner Dataquest’s research studies focused on market share for color and black-and-white copiers, both digital and analog, including PC copiers (1- to 10-ppm) and copiers in Segments 1-6, which range in speed from 11 to >91 ppm.
Canon held the No. 1 brand market share position in the color copier market for 2004, with 29.5 percent. This is the 18th consecutive year Canon has been the overall market brand leader in the U.S. color laser copier market. In addition, it is the third consecutive year that Canon has captured the number one position in every speed segment of the black-and-white copier market in the U.S., and the 22nd time in the last 23 years Canon has been the number one overall brand leader in the black-and-white copier market, with a 32.5 percent share.
Ryoichi Bamba, executive vice president and GM of Canon U.S.A.’s Imaging Systems Group, says, “The strength of the Canon color and black-and-white family of products is reflected in the overall demand for Canon-branded products, allowing us to dominate the market.”
