Canon imagePRESS C7000VP ships this month

Jun 14, 2007 12:47 PM

Canon U.S.A., Inc. (Lake Success, NY) marked several milestones at its Digital Solutions Forum event taking place in Chicago this week. 2007 is Canon’s 30th year in the color business and its 20th year in digital color since the launch of the CLC1 in 1987. This year, the company also has sold its 1,000,000th color copier.

“The time is now,” said Janet Cain, director and assistant GM, Production Systems Division, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc., in reference to forecasted growth in the commercial print industry and the launch of the imagePRESS C7000VP. Scheduled to begin shipments next week, the C7000 costs $175,000 for the marking engine, with three controller choices (one from Canon and two from EFI) at various prices. She noted there also is an upgrade path from Canon’s CLC devices to the C7000.

As the new production printer hits the market, Canon is launching “Essential Business Builder,” a consultative program to help commercial printers develop a value-added strategy for digital print. The program is customized for individual Canon technology users, according to Cain.

Later this year, Canon plans to make available an imagePRESS “Customer Maintenance Program,” which will enable users to perform self-service and proactive maintenance on their imagePRESS devices.
