Legendary album covers recreated on FSC-certified paper

Renowned album cover artist Gary Burden of Malibu, CA-based R. Twerk & Co. and Gary Gonzales from Inglewood, CA-based “green” printer Insync Media have made the era of peace, love and rock ’n’ roll come alive on Domtar EarthChoice papers. The paper contains virgin fiber that is certified by SmartWood to the Forest Stewardship Council’s forest management standards. Most Domtar EarthChoice papers also contain post-consumer waste content.
To demonstrate the quality that can be achieved now with socially and environmentally responsible papers and printing processes, the duo has recreated 14 of Burden’s best-known album covers, including The Eagles’ “Desperado”; The Doors’ “Morrison Hotel”; Joni Mitchell’s “Blue”; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Déjà Vu”; and Steppenwolf’s “Steppenwolf the Second.”
An exhibit of the one-of-a-kind, digitally printed, 47 x 47-inch wall posters with introductions from Burden and quotes from the musicians themselves will travel to Chicago, Dallas, New York and Toronto this year.
Says Gonzales, “A lot of companies have doubts about the quality of socially and environmentally responsible papers and inks. This project should prove to the skeptics that they have nothing to worry about.”
