WAM!NET names Williams CEO

WAM!NET (Eagan, MN), has named Michael Williams to the position of chief executive officer.
Williams joins WAM!NET from Lockheed Martin, where he most recently served as president and general manager of the Systems and Technology Business of Lockheed Martin's Global Telecommunications Organization (LMGT), a $200 million, 600-person business focused on delivering hybrid satellite-terrestrial network infrastructure and information technology solutions to international customers. He brings to WAM!NET an extensive background with more than 30 years experience in domestic and international business development, IT and telecommunications systems engineering, and global program leadership in both the commercial and government sectors.
While at Lockheed, he previously held the position of senior vice president, Strategy and Ventures for LMGT, responsible for defining the company's Global Telecommunications business strategy and establishing and managing external alliances, joint ventures, acquisitions, divestitures. Before that, he served as vice president, Personal SATCOM systems for Lockheed Martin Telecommunications, where he led a line of business responsible for developing turnkey systems and joint ventures to provide personal satellite-based telecommunication systems around the world.
