The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (Rochester, NY) has unveiled expanded programs and other enhancements at its newly named School of Print Media (SPM). Formerly known as the School of Printing Management and Sciences, SPM was developed in response to advances in digital technology. Enhancements include new-media publishing and graphic-media curricula at undergraduate and graduate levels. Also, all graphic-media research and industry education programs at RIT will now be administered by the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, under the umbrella of the RIT Printing Industry Center.
In related news, Frank Romano, current chair of SPM, will vacate the role to assume responsibility as RIT’s Roger K. Fawcett Distinguished Professor of Digital Publishing. Barbara Pellow, a Frank E. Gannett Professor of Integrated Publishing Sciences, will assume the administrative chair position on July 1.
