Quebecor World Inc. (Greenwich, CT) announced plans to open a new retail offset production facility in Riverside, CA. The facility is said to be part of Quebecor’s strategic growth initiative to provide the most flexible and competitive North American manufacturing platform for the mass production of inserts and mailers. The Riverside plant will focus on the retail market, servicing the Southern California market, which reportedly represents about 50 percent of the West Coast’s daily and Sunday newspaper circulation.

The 196,000-sq.-ft. plant will initially be equipped with seven web-offset heatset presses. Start-up for the first three presses is planned for Q4, with the remaining four to be installed during Q1 2003. Approximately 50,000 sq. ft. of the Riverside plant will be designated for Quebecor World Logisitics’ newest consolidation facility.
