Seybold Publications and Seybold Seminars will release results and analysis of a new competitive test on PDF workflow for print production, as well as results of a survey on PDF usage, Sept. 10 during Seybold San Francisco 2002. The test, or shootout, and survey are designed to measure the effectiveness of PDF in the printing and publishing industries.

Phase one of the shootout will measure how different workflow systems can create viable, press-ready PDFs from problematic application files. In phase two, prepress output and system vendors will be required to trap, impose, separate and output a set of viable, challenging and independently validated PDF files. Vendor-supplied data will be verified and made public at the Seybold PDF Conference in San Francisco, and also shown in a gallery of final output at the Seybold Seminars trade show.
