IBM (Boulder, CO) and Hitachi Koki (HKK) (Tokyo) today announced an investment in Aprion Digital (Netanya, Israel), a supplier of digital inkjet printing technology, for an undisclosed sum. According to IBM, the intent of the investment is to remain at the forefront of technology advancements that provide leading-edge printing solutions.

IBM Printing Systems will collaborate with its long-term partner Hitachi Koki to explore possible applications of the company's patented Multiple Array Graphic Inkjet Color (MAGIC) drop-on-demand piezo inkjet technology.

IBM Printing Systems will continue to develop output solutions based on the latest electrophotographic technology, which it believes will coexist with new inkjet technology solutions for years to come.
