Berlin-based software developer callas software, German Printing and Media Industries Federation (bvdm), Swiss Federal laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA), Association for the Promotion of Research in the Graphic Arts Industry (Ugra) and the international association of newspapers (Ifra) have announced the availability of PDF/X-3 Inspector freeware.
The PDF/X-3 plug-in is a free tool for creating and verifying PDF/X-3 files according to ISO 15930-3. This tool is an essential prerequisite for implementing the PDF/X-3 standard in day-to-day prepress production.
bvdm, EMPA/Ugra and Ifra, together with PDF experts Olaf Druemmer and Stephan Jaeggi, and with active cooperation from the European Color Initiative (ECI) and the German research Institute for the graphic arts industry FOGRA, have actively supported the development of the ISO standard PDF/X-3, and been promoting it prior to its becoming an official ISO standard.
