Drent Graphic Machines (Eerbeek, Netherlands), a manufacturer of narrow-web, offset, rotary presses, and collaborator Goebel Graphic Machines (Darmstadt, Germany), specialist in security printing, plan to centralize and coordinate their sales and marketing activities in Eerbeek. This move has been accelerated in response to the worsening economic situation in the graphic arts industry. Goebel’s Darmstadt engineering department will be headed by Drent’s Eerbeek department. Goebel will focus on production of modules for both companies’ products, as well as continue to manufacture security printing presses. These changes will result in a 30 percent reduction in staff at Drent, and 20 percent reduction at Goebel.
