Danaher Corp. (Washimgton) has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Marconi Data Systems Inc. (Wood Dale, IL), formerly Videojet Systems International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marconi plc (London), for $400 million USD. The acquisition, expected to close before the end of first quarter 2002, remains subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
"We are very enthused with Danaher Corporation’s understanding of our business and the opportunities this union will create," noted Craig E. Bauer, president and CEO of Marconi Data Systems. "Over the past several years, our company has transitioned from the premier coding and marking company to a leader in high speed digital imaging and asset management technologies. Today, the company provides systems solutions that help our customers manage the application, tracking and management of variable information worldwide.
