Canon U.S.A., Inc. (Lake Success, NY) has placed first in overall market share for copiers in the U.S. in 2001, according to Gartner Dataquest. This marks Canon’s fourth consecutive year in this position.

The Dataquest studies focused on market share for color, and for black-and-white copiers of both digital and analog technology, combined. These also included PC copiers and copiers in Segements 1-6, which range in speed from 11 to 90-plus copies per minute. Overall, 557,296 Canon black-and-white copiers were sold in the U.S. in 2001, giving the company 34 percent of the market. Canon shipped 14,316 color laser copiers, also a 34 percent share of the color market.
