Berlin Industries, Inc., (Carol Stream, IL) has selected the PECAS Vision management information system from Radius Solutions (Chicago) for its printing plants in Las Vegas and Carol Stream, IL.
The PECAS selection was a result of Berlin's search for a single system to standardize its business processes within and across the two plants. The company evaluated the suitability of two different kinds of systems in its environment: the industry-specific PECAS solution and a generic, manufacturing-focused ERP system.
"Our main reason for selecting PECAS was that it was easier for us to see our business processes," stated Bob Fredriksen, Berlin's IT director. "With the generic ERP system, we had to be more creative in finding ways to make the system work with our business. PECAS provides print job visibility from end to end. It has a very robust estimating module and a global scheduling module. PECAS also has an excellent Shop Floor Data Collection System. The best part is that all of the modules are fully integrated. Finally, all of the members of the Radius implementation staff have experience in the printing industry and are used to working with companies like Berlin."
Berlin began the implementation in December, and is expected to complete the project in the summer of 2002.
