The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund has honored Curtis Packaging  (Newtown, CT) as a 2008 recipient of the “Connecticut Clean Energy Communities Award.” The award recognizes Curtis Packaging’s commitment to clean, renewable energy and how its purchase is leading the success of the “Clean Energy Community” campaign in Newtown.

Curtis Packaging’s commitment to renewable energy through the CTCleanEnergyOptions Program has resulted in the City of Newtown to qualify for a free solar energy system from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund.

As part of this commitment, Curtis Packaging has purchased enough clean, renewable energy to account for 100 percent of its electricity needs, ranking it among the leaders in the Printing and Packaging Industry. The estimated environmental benefits of the renewable energy purchase are equivalent to not consuming 400,000 gallons of gasoline or offsetting the electricity use of 466 homes for one year.

Curtis Packaging is 100 percent carbon neutral, uses 100 percent renewable energy and is FSC certified.
