Window Book (Cambridge, MA) has launched Your First Priority System for shipping lightweight items and documents, as well as direct and accountable mail. Users can access an online savings calculator to review side-by-side comparisons of shipping costs with the First Priority System versus another carrier’s. Shippers calculated savings as high as 65 percent. The system’s bubble mailer provides extra product protection at discounted electronic confirmation rates, as well as automated e-mail notification to both the parcel recipient and shipper upon shipment and delivery.

Earth-friendly digital paper
Wausau Paper (Wausau, WI) introduces Exact Digital, a new line of coated and uncoated, presentation quality digital papers for business imaging and commercial digital printing. The product line includes a full array of acid- and lignin-free papers specially formulated for copiers, inkjet and laser printers, color copiers, and commercial digital presses.
Available in the most popular digital sizes, basis weights range from 20-lb. writing to 80-lb. cover. Most items carry a 96 brightness rating and all are made with 30 percent post-consumer fiber.

Dyne testing
To help clarify questions about dyne testing, UV Process Supply (Chicago) has developed a how-to guide, “Proper Dyne Testing: How, Why, and When to Perform.” This manual describes different methods and specifies which are best suited to different applications. Temperature/humidty chart recorders
Inventory and other collections spoilage can be minimized with Dickson’s (Addison, IL) TH8 line of eight-inch temperature/humidity chart recorders and the KT8 line of k-thermocouple remote sensing eight-inch chart recorders.
There are three different models of TH8 and five of the KT8, with each optimized for different humidity and/or temperature ranges. Users are able to interchange 24-hour, seven-day or 31-day charts as desired, opt to display temperature or humidity and specify preferred traceable calibration methods. Benefits to these chart recorders include:

Cotton paper for inkjet applications
Fine art reproductions and high-end photographic printing are ideal applications for Diamond Jet 100 percent cotton paper from Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM) (Irvine, CA). The paper is free of optical brightening agents to increase whiteness and brightness, and to prevent yellowing. Prints reportedly are more faithful in reproducing the full quality of the original.
The cotton paper comes in 50-ft. rolls with widths of 17, 24 or 36 inches. With a 15-mil thickness, it is suitable for use with all major inkjet printing devices.

Digital imaging system
Canon U.S.A.’s (Lake Success, NY) imageRUNNER 5070 digital multifunction imaging system reportedly raises speed and efficiency of data processing. The model is Internet-ready and offers a host of device access, management and security features.
With output speeds up to 50 ppm and a 3.3-second first-copy-out time, it supports up to 600-dpi output. It boasts a 100-sheet duplexing automatic document feeder and a paper capacity of 4,150 sheets that can be upgraded to a maximum of 7,650 sheets. The system also supports a variety of media up to 110-lb.

Wide-format solvent inkjet printer
MacDermid ColorSpan (Eden Prairie, MN) introduces DisplayMaker 98SI wide-format solvent inkjet printer, able to print on a variety of roll-fed media up to 98.5 inches wide or rigid materials up to 1/4-inch thick. Spectro profiles for all RGB printers
ColorVision (Lawrenceville, NJ) has released the Datacolor 1005 spectrocolorimeter, patch reading hardware and stand-alone software. The new software creates spectro printer profiles that support all RGB-driven inkjet, dye-sub, thermal, chemical and laser printers. New-generation server

(San Diego) and EFI (Foster City, CA) has released the Fiery E-8000 color server, based on Fiery System 7 and designed to drive the Ricoh Aficio Color 5560 and 3260C multifunction devices. Anti-tracking cylinder
No-Mark Starwheels are designed to make running coated stocks without ink tracking or marking easy for all press operators regardless of skill level. The devices replace the OEM wheels on the press.
No-Mark uses fully adjustable anti-tracking components suitable for virtually every printing application where ink marking and tracking may occur. Half-size press
At Ipex next month, Komori will launch its new half-size press, the Lithrone LS29. Many features from Komori’s full size LS40 series have migrated down to the smaller press.
The 29-inch press features fully automatic plate changing—a first for Komori in this format. The Lithrone LS29’s speedy plate changing (four plates in 150 seconds) will enable users to tackle short-run, fast-turn jobs.

- Shapco Printing (Minneapolis) has added a seven-color HP (Palo Alto, CA) 5000.
- Xerox (Rochester, NY) iGen3s have been installed at Ginny’s Printing (Austin, TX) and Franklin/Trade Graphics (Miami).
- A Bobst (Roseland, NJ) Steuer Foiljet 104 FBR is the latest addition to Utah Paper Box Co. (Salt Lake City).
- Superior Bindery (Hingham, MA) has invested in an Autobond (Derbyshire, England) Compact 102TP laminator.
