PRINTCAFE ACQUIRES PRINTCHANNEL
Dec 1, 2002 12:00 PM
Printcafe Software, Inc. (Pittsburgh) has acquired the assets and intellectual property of printChannel, Inc. (San Francisco), a provider of Web-based procurement services for commercial printers. Printcafe did not assume any printChannel obligations or liabilities other than in connection with certain customer contracts. Although terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, Printcafe reportedly does not anticipate that the transaction will have a material impact on its pro forma Q4 financial results.
In related news, Printcafe's strategic partner, Creo Inc. (Vancouver, BC), will assume ownership and development responsibilities for the portion of printChannel's e-commerce technology related to content management and workflow. “We brought Creo in to leverage its expertise to optimize the variable-print, soft-proofing, imposition and PDF-creation functionality within the printChannel Classic and print I/O products,” says Printcafe president and CEO Marc Olin.
