May 1, 2002 12:00 PM
Electronics For Imaging (EFI) (New York City) announced that 14 more companies intend to deploy EFI's PrintMe Networks technology in existing and future products, services and locations. They include Canon, IBM, OfficeMax, Palm Inc., IKON Office Systems, Minolta, Minolta-QMS, Sharp, Toshiba, DataViz, GENICOM, Mimeo, Pitman, Singlecast and Xanté. They join Adobe Systems Inc., Xerox Corp., Sir Speedy, Yahoo! and others in a coalition of companies that support the Internet printing standard, which was officially launched in March.
PrintMe Networks enables printing to any printer on the PrintMe network from a variety of wireless devices, without requiring any print drivers, cables or complex setup. Mobile professionals can reportedly print and fax documents from their PCs, PDAs, two-way pagers and cell phones by dialing into any printer on the network or to most fax machines in major countries worldwide.
