CIP3 INTEGRATIONS
May 1, 2002 12:00 PM
Müller Martini (Hauppauge, NY) and software provider ScenicSoft, Inc. (Lynnwood, WA) have announced what is said to be the first working CIP3 link based on the print-production format. The link connects ScenicSoft's print-production planning tool, UpFront, and Müller Martini's saddlestitchers. CIP3 integration is said to cut makeready and changeover times for Müller stitching lines equipped with the Automatic MakeReadY System (AMRYS). It is available on Müller's Prima and Optima saddlestitchers.
Through a JDF import link in ScenicSoft's UpFront, users can capture estimation records and manufacturing instructions from print MIS systems; or, the production planner can directly enter job-ticket data via UpFront's user interface.
In related news, ScenicSoft and bindery-equipment manufacturer Wohlenberg Schneidesysteme GmbH (Hanover, Germany) have completed testing CIP3 connectivity between UpFront 1.5 and Preps 4.1, and all Wohlenberg Cut-tec series 76-185 PS and PPS cutters with Autoprogrammer 2.22 software. Pandora 1.5, ScenicSoft's PDF-based packaging solution, entered beta testing in April. MAN Roland (Westmont, IL) and MBO America (Westampton, NJ) are dealers for Wohlenberg equipment in the U.S.
