Heidelberg opens new demo center, unveils 18,000-sph press
Heidelberg recently invited 300 printers from across the United States to the new Print Media Demonstration Center (PMDC) at its Kennesaw, GA, headquarters. PMDC features a full range of prepress, press, postpress and workflow solutions. "We can’t wait for trade shows," said Heidelberg CEO Bernard Schreier. 100 WORDS OR LESS:
Is globalization a threat or an opportunity?
"Globalization goes to the heart of what is happening in the printing industry. Our competition and markets are being redefined. Competitors are no longer just across town but across the ocean. And they’re not necessarily printers. Is globalization a threat or an opportunity? That depends. Are you positioning to be in the communications business or primarily ink-on-paper? Globalization is not about to go away.
Productivity and efficiency are more important than ever, but you also need to know your client’s business inside-out. The biggest threat is not China; it’s complacency and trying to maintain business as usual."
—Joseph Vincenzino, senior economist, National Assn. for Printing Leadership (NAPL)
