HEIDELBERG Highlights include web-to-print, short-run printing and package printing. The new Speed-master SX 102 combines the XL series with the SM 102 platform. On the UV front, Heidelberg will debut an energy-saving single-lamp configuration for conventional as well as highly reactive UV inks and coatings.
DIGITAL: Heidelberg is selling Ricoh’s digital printing system as the Linoprint C 901. The Heidelberg Lino-print L (formerly iTS6oo) based on CSAT acquisition is a DoD system for producing complex short to medium-sized label, film runs and applications with variable content. Applications include smart labels, security printing, and traceable labels.
MANROLAND WEB Look for autoprint components which support pushbutton press operation; a new operating concept for newspaper and commercial presses; pressupdate (upgrades and reconfiguring) and rebuilding strategies as well as innovations from the printnet (workflow) and printservices (maintenance and support) divisions.
DIGITAL: The first fruits of the manroland/0ce collaboration announced in December 2010 teams Océ’s new JetStream 4300 monochrome web-fed press with manroland’s book folder.
KOMORI An “OffsetOnDemand” area showcases the Lithrone G40P (8-C H-UV-equipped 40-inch convertible perfector); the Lithrone S29 (5-C HUV-equipped 29-inch sheetfed offset press), postpress systems, the Komori Color Management System, and a digital printing system.
PACKAGING: Look for the new Lithrone GX40 Carton (6-c H-UVequipped 40-inch sheetfed offset press with coater).
DIGITAL: In cooperation with Konica Minolta, two prototypes will be unveiled: a 29-inch sheetfed machine and a 20-inch webfed machine. The four-color machines use 1,200dpi Konica Minolta print heads and offer a choice of three quality/speed settings.
Océ’s new ColorStream 3700 offers a process speed of 100 metres per minute with a print and paper width of 20.25 inches. That translates to 716 letter sized impressions per minute for a single unit (1,432 in a twin configuration), for monthly volumes of up to 43 million. Users reportedly can easily transition between monochrome-only and full-color printing.
Fujifilm will launch Vividia high performance inks tailored to commercial and packaging print applications for its single-pass digital inkjet presses. Fujifilm will feature the Jet Press 720 which uses Vividia AQ ink and Samba printhead.
PACKAGING: Fujifilm will unveil a B2 digital inkjet printing solution specifically designed for folding carton production.
Screen It’s the coming out party for the Truepress JetSX, a variabledata B2 sheetfed inkjet press with duplexing capability. It can print fully variable data to any level of output from the Screen EQUIOS front end. The Truepress JetSX now can print on paper board up to 0.6 mm thick. On the web side, a Truepress Jet520 demo will showcase an on-demand book printing solution.
Trelleborg Printing Blankets’ highlights include the Vulcan Synthesis Evo, for heatset presses and the Rollin MyCoat, a two-ply mylar based strippable coating blanket. Paper company UPM worked with workflow specialist Dalim Software and color-server expert GMG to create ColorCTRL, a web-based PDF workflow management application that covers the print process from the creation of the print ready PDF page to the final color accurate print product.
