Twenty-one Environmental Excellence Awards were presented during an evening ceremony at Graph Expo. It was a wonderful night — winners compared notes and made plans to speak again soon. Our publisher, Scott Bieda, joined me in welcoming our guests, and, with the help of our Premier sponsors, Heidelberg and Kodak, we presented the inaugural Environmental Excellence awards.
Jim Dunn, president of Heidelberg USA and Rick Mazur, vice president of the global commercial segment marketing for Kodak's GCG, provided a brief overview of the winning sustainability efforts. Scott and I had the enjoyable task of distributing the awards.
Dan Weisenbach, owner of Weisenbach Recycled Products, made maximum use of his time — prior to joining us, he gave a speech at a local school. Gold winner Robert Kashan, CEO of EarthColor, thanked us for creating a program that spotlights good corporate citizenship.
“This was a milestone in my career,” said a beaming Tom Martella after accepting Martella Printing's Silver award. “I can't wait for next year's call for entries!”
Teaming with Premier sponsors Heidelberg and Kodak, AMERICAN PRINTER, in conjunction with NAPL, created the Environmental Excellence awards to recognize commercial printers who are leading the industry in environmentally conscious manufacturing. Gold-level sponsors include Adobe, Agfa, Air Motion Systems (AMS), HP, Mohawk Fine Papers and Presstek.
Congratulations to all of the award recipients and a sincere
thank you to every company that participated!
