MGI debuts faster Meteor digital press

MGI Digital Graphic Technology is introducing new Meteor DP8700 XL digital press at Graphitec in Paris, this week, with the North American debut scheduled to take place at Graph Expo 2011 in Chicago.

The Meteor DP8700 XL is the latest member of the Meteor family of 4-color, multisubstrate digital presses. Since its introduction at drupa 2008, more than 400 Meteor DP60 Pros have been installed worldwide.

The Meteor DP8700 XL adds new features designed to maximize production and optimize ease of operation. These include increased production speed (up to 4,260 A4 / letter pages/hr.); 3,600-dpi output (8 bit printing) and more than 20 line screen variations from 95 lpi to 270 lpi, including stochastic mode; new high definition, silicone-free dry toners (CMYK) with a smaller particle size formulated using renewable and organic components, as well as higher capacity cartridges; and a Fiery Pro80 System 9 RIP with support for VPS & PPML 2.2, as well as Adobe PostScript Level 3, TIFF and PDF, JDF compliance, plus Command WorkStation 5 and job queue management.  MGI’s EnvelopExpress Pro features an updated design for the Meteor DP8700 XL, increasing production and improving job efficiency.
